Course Update
With the rain and cold temperature over the last couple of weeks, we have noticed a disease called fusarium patch starting to invade our fairways. We will be spraying a fungicide over the fairways in the next week or so, so please keep an eye out for spray signs and remember to wash your hands after your round and before you eat.
If the course is open to carts please stay out of low wet areas and away from roped off areas as the carts can potentially get stuck. Please follow the rules on the windscreen of the carts and avoid tight turning.
From the last two coring renovations we had done, we have removed 0.8% organic matter from the top 100mm of the greens reducing it from 4% (very high) to 3.2% ( High but improving). High organic matter in golf greens contribute to disease occurrence and softer playing surfaces. We still have a long way to go but we are making progress. Its only a matter of time before we have hard and fast greens. In saying that our Spring Renovations to the greens and tees & surrounds have been booked in starting 1st of September. There will be a couple of weeks of holes closed at different times to complete the coring and sanding so please take note of these days. If you are available to help from the 2nd September that would be awesome. I will keep everyone updated closer to the time.

Futures/Juniors
Last Sunday was another great turnout from the Juniors with some excellent scoring. It was also encouraging to see so many push on and play 18 holes (after a half time refuel of complimentary fries & drink in the Clubhouse ) Keep this up & we’ll achieve our goal of having a junior interclub team season.
Our teaching pro, Stephen Wood, will be there this Sunday giving tips on chipping and putting.
The format is:
10.30am - Members Only: Invited to attend Stephen's fortnightly coaching session.
11.30am - Open invite to all juniors to play the course. They choose their tees & to play either 9 or 18 holes.
Please remember that sessions for learner golfers can be arranged with Maurice Munro through the Clubhouse. Ideally, these would align with Stephen’s fortnightly sessions.
