We're heading into the final week of daylight savings so get out here and enjoy your last chance for an evening round. We have another big weekend on the course. We'll see our best golfers in action on Saturday morning with Divs 2 & 5 playing at home, followed by some of the top golfers in Wellington. We're hosting the Presidents Salver Final between Manor Park GC and Boulcott's Farm Heritage GC. If your interested in witnesseing how a bunch of plus handicappers take on course - come on down and follow them for a few holes. Please be patient tomorrow - competition golf is always a little slower. Best of luck also to our Holland Cup Semi-Finalists on Sunday!

Ladies
KGC 9H: The 9 Hole Ladies enjoyed great Autumn golfing conditions when we played the Back 9. To make up for last week’s wash out, we played 2 competitions. The Medley 3 Par competition was won by Trish Titcombe with +4. Susan Wright was second on a count-back from Julie Wilcox on +1. The Medal 3 Nett competition was also won by Trish Titcombe with 30 nett and Marion Thompson on 37 the next best. (Cheers Susan)
9H Inter Club: The ladies 9 hole interclub team played Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club 1 today on a sunny day in Carterton. The team played well and we drew 2-2. Steve Weir, who was organising the day, ran a team stableford competition and Karori came 5th. We all won 2 golf balls. (Cheers Hilary)
Beginner Women's Golf Lessons: We’ve just wrapped up the first round of our Beginner Women's Golf Lessons, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! Here’s what some participants had to say:
- "My daughter and I have really loved it and enjoyed getting to know everyone."
- "I liked the format; getting out on the course was a bit scary at first, but it was the perfect way to enhance our understanding of golf."
- "You turned what was initially a little daunting into a really fun and relaxed experience."
- "The sound of the ball hitting the sweet spot is such a great pleasure."
It was truly wonderful to connect with all the ladies and share this golfing journey together. Many have expressed excitement about continuing and seeing where this adventure leads! A huge thank you to our amazing instructor, Maurice, for making it all possible. (Cheers Lauren)

Wednesday Club
With several regulars away there was only a field of 14 to play a Stableford competition on Wednesday. The winner was Derek Fitzgibbon on 39 points, beating Matthew Everett (2nd) and Ian Bates (3rd) on 37 points. Matthew was nearest the pin (on the 4th hole), but Ossie had the only two of the day on the 6th hole. Terry McAlister won the raffle with Martin Leung second. (Cheers Patrick)

Wednesday Twilight
Perfect conditions and fantastic scores! Thirty-four golfers turned up for the final competition night of the Twilight season, enjoying absolutely perfect playing conditions. The great weather seemed to inspire some impressive scoring!
Eight players finished with 19 stableford points, each collecting a $5 voucher. The winning group this week started with:
- Jon Lyall, Tim Brosnahan and Paulo Fiono on 20 points ($10 each)
- Will Lyall (showing the grown-ups how it’s done!), Terry Bastion & Terry McAlister with 21 points ($15 each)
- This week’s winner was Peter Alkema with a great score of 23 stableford points ($20).
Golf balls went to Ossie for the only ‘two’ this week and Tim Brosnahan for NTP. Thanks to Doug Calhoun on the BBQ again, and to Isaac in the kitchen. Next week marks the final Twilight evening, featuring an Ambrose competition (teeing off at 5pm), our usual BBQ, and our prize-giving to celebrate the season. Don’t forget to get your Ambrose teams entered by Monday, 31 March - sign up at the Clubhouse shop or call the club.
Come along for an evening of great golf, good food, and well-earned awards—see you there! (Cheers Gail)

Course Update
There's been a lot going on over the last week. We've had the digger working constantly to improve drainage throughout the year and the greens and fairways were sprayed. You've probably noticed they've been a little bumpy over the last few of days. The greenkeepers hope to roll today(if the rain clears) to have them running well for weekend matches. Another big thanks to Ian Colligan and Mark Peck for getting out there on the mowers, allowing the greenkeepers to do more specialised work.

He will add you to our volunteer email list that gest regularly updated about projects amnd working bees.

 Driving Behaviour
The Clubhouse received the following message from a South Makara Rd resident. We all drive both ways along this road (and Makara Hill) and non of us wants to get hurt. Please put safety first!!
"I am hoping you might be able to help me with something.
I am a frequent user of south Makara road and am hoping you might be able to help me with driving behaviour on that road. Being familiar with the locals out there, it is easy to recognise who is local and who is heading for the golf course.
I and my friends have noticed a decrease in driving quality recently, resulting in many near misses. I am asking if you could remind your members to drive sensibly and keep as far left as possible on the single lane section of South Makara Road, and to keep to the left of the center line, also on the Makara Hill.
If you could help me with this, that would be really appreciated".

Clubhouse Volunteers
Our Ladies Club Captain, Denise Marten, is looking to establish a 'House Sub-Committee' to promote and improve the fare and service we all wish to enjoy after golf. She's also seeking a pool of volunteers to help with bartending and food service, particularly during our busy periods, and provide the staff with the level of support they require on occasions to satisfy heavy demand. Please let Denise know if you're open to helping out (denise@karorigolf.co.nz).

Tee Bookings
Members are asked to help us ensure we have accurate statistics on the usage of the course in order that the Committee can make informed decisions – to do this we need members to please ensure a tee time is booked for every round played, and that you check-in at the Clubhouse before playing. Its easy and quick to do in the GolfNZ App, or on our website, and will make sure we comply with Health and Safety by knowing who is on the course at any time. There are still members just walking onto the course without a booking or checking-in which makes it difficult to marshal efficiently or ensure there is availability for visitor bookings.
