Last weekend was another huge one at the club and we continue to receive overwhelmingly positive feedback about our course. Obviously, with a full field and competition golf being played, rounds take a longer - so please be patient. The big news this week was club stalwart, Kevin Norquay's, Hole-in-One at Ohariu Valley and TK finally got a new ute - a sweet looking Nissan Navara. We had another solid effort from volunteers on Tuesday and drainage work continues around the course. There are no Inter Club games scheduled tomorrow, however the first knock-out rounds of the Holland Cup will be played on Sunday. Best of luck to all involved.

Wednesday Club

21 stalwarts were challenged by a strong Southerly and threatening clouds with 3 players prevailing and playing to their handicap or better. The winner, ex-President Mike Suggate, had and excellent round to win with 44 points (wine) followed by Bob Cavana with 39 points (balls) and Matthew Everett 36 points. Balls (or chocolates) were given to Mike Cox (fresh back from visiting new UK grandson), Patrick Cordue and Alex Lim each with 34 points. There were no Twos but Ian Bates received a ball for NTP and paid the pig. Matt was given a ball for an Eagle! Chocolates given to all sweet-tooth non-winners! The weekly raffle was won by Saint Kennach and Terry McAlister whilst Matt Everett (wine) and Martin Leung (ball sleeve) were the winners in the Fine Wine Draw. (Cheers Ian)

Wednesday Twilight

This week’s Twilight Golf featured a much-anticipated 'Curry Night,' and it didn’t disappoint! The rich, enticing aromas of curry wafted across the course, setting the stage for an evening that was as much a feast for the senses as it was for the scorecards.

Despite a chilly southerly wind and the threat of rain, an impressive 44 golfers braved the elements for a fantastic night of golf and great food. The Makara grapevine was in full swing, too, with five Ohariu golfers joining us. They claimed it was because their greens were being cored, but undoubtedly they had heard about Curry Night!

This week’s competition saw five players matching their handicaps, each earning a golf ball, while another five scored 19 stableford points, securing a $5 voucher. The competition was tight, with Terry McAlister, Kate Brown (from Oharui), and Kate Apperley each scoring 20 points and taking home $10. Runners-up Will Lyall and Tim Brosnahan edged ahead with 21 points, earning $15 vouchers. But the night’s top performers were Clare Craig and Michael Hanson (another Ohariu guest), both finishing with an impressive 23 points and pocketing $20 each. NTP was Jeff Mason and there were no 'two's reported this week.

The true highlight of the evening, though, was the incredible selection of curries, generously prepared by some talented chefs. The dishes were restaurant-quality—thank you to everyone who contributed, and to Isaac for tackling the clean-up! With just two Twilight Golf competition evenings left this season, don’t miss your chance and join us next week for another exciting round. See you next Wednesday! (Cheers Gail)

Message from the President

You will all have seen the announcement today that Graham Black has resigned as Club Captain. I want to acknowledge and thank him for his work in the early days of the new committee. I wish him well in his endeavours. I’m sure his golf will improve immeasurably. (Mark Peck)

Green Fee Concession Cards

The Committee are in the process of reviewing our membership offers and considering our approach to developing and targeting areas of membership growth.  One of our initial drivers is to ensure that we are offering fair and consistent pricing across our membership and green fee offers.  Since its introduction, the ‘10 Trip’ concession card has provided excellent value to players, as well as important cash flow benefits to the Club.  However, at its current pricing levels we consider that the level of discounts are potentially detracting from our membership and revenue growth.

As a result we have taken the decision to pause further general concession card sales while we review the need and structure of any future discount programmes. We will continue to offer the concession card to encourage new membership in target groups, including ‘She Loves Golfers’ and our ‘Family Bundle’ for Junior 18U parents.
