Each week I plan to discuss a topic from the rules of golf to help the education process for all of us.

Local Rule E-5 - Alternative Relief for Out of Bounds or Lost Ball.

As an alternative to taking a stroke and distance penalty for a lost ball (outside a penalty area) or a ball out of bounds.

In this situation the player may, for a 2 stroke penalty, take relief between the point the ball was lost or crossed the out of bounds line and the nearest point on the fairway not nearer the hole. The ball may not be dropped more than 2 club lengths into the fairway.

This option is not available if the player has played a provisional ball.

Mens Interclub

On Saturday the 15th of February our 4 mens interclub teams were in action again

Division 2 : Away to Mornington

The home side came away clear winners 14/1, sadly leaving Karori Div 2 at the bottom of the table. Winning 5/4, and getting player of the day, was Dominic Milicich. One great story of the day was Isaac getting his very first eagle, amazingly three of his group drove the 13th 246m par 4, with Isaac the only one managing to convert his putt for eagle.

Deane Milne - Dan Taylor (Mornington) - Isaac Henry - at Mornington 13th hole par4 246m

Division 5 : Home to Titahi Bay

Div 5 had a great day out at home v Titahi Bay, winning 13.5 to 1.5. We took advantage of fantastic course conditions and excellent weather to post a big margin against a really good bunch of guys, whose company we enjoyed both on and off the course. Notable were first interclub wins to Jake Troughton and debutant Tom Harrison. A clean sweep of the 4 balls meant everyone had a hand in a solid team performance that sees us 5 points clear at the top of the division, albeit with a long way to go in the season.

Division 9 : Away to Waikanae

Another tough day on the course with Waikanae winning 14-1.  Best performance of the day was Sar Palado who shot 84 to come away with the only win of the day 1 up.

Division 12 : Away to Titahi Bay

It was a hard day at the office for Div 12 this week, away at Titahi Bay - but, despite the heat, along with fast and furious fairways and perilous pin placements we got a reasonable away result: 4-11.

Great wins from Geoff Parr, Mike Pike and Garth Mickell, and Mike and Ali Daman Willems got a win on their 4ball.

Junior Interclub - Pennants

18 Hole Pennants : A tough match for the Crew going down 3-1 to home team of Shandon.  Some great rounds from all of the lads with a demon round of 78 from Ben Willocks. Team is getting some great match play experience and sharpening the swords for next round at Boulcotts Farm.

9 Hole Pennants - Karori hosted the 9 Hole Pennants on Sunday 16th February with 6 teams of 4 on the course.  The majority of the players found Karori a pretty tough proposition. The results were :

Shandon 3 v Paraparaume 3

Judgeford Blue 4 v Boulcotts Farm 2

Judgeford Yellow 3 v Royal Wellington 3
