2025 Club Opening Day - Sun 26 Jan

Put in your diaries Sunday 26 January as the 2025 Official Opening Day. Additional details will be advised shortly, but we're hoping to add in a little vovelty & fun.

Junior Golf Coaching Programme 2025

Starts up again on 16 Feb 2025. We're oversubscribed, and our waitlist continues to grow. The demand has unfortunately outstripped supply!

Junior Inter Club

We've registered two teams for the 2025 Wellington Junior Inter Club Competition. We could do with a couple more players (especially 18H) to cover for illness, injury or absence. Please advise ASAP if you know of a player that might be interested. Details are:

Starts: Sunday 02 Feb 2025
Finals: May 2025 (dates depend on number of teams entered)
Play: Sunday's - typically fortnightly but can sometimes be two weeks in a row
18H Penants: Tee-off typically 9am - 10am
9H Pennans: Tee-off around midday

Cancer Society Longest Day Challenge

The challenge is to successfully complete a golf marathon - four rounds of golf, or 72 holes - in one day to raise funds for New Zealander's facing cancer. A club member, Scott McHardy, is taking part and you can support him via the link below. Arborist Alert - 10th & 17th Holes Closed Monday

We will have arborists working in the tree line between the 10th and 17th Holes on Monday 6 Jan 2025. Both holes are closed for the day. Golfers must keep a safe distance at all times. Since both holes are being declared 'out of play' for the day, scores for the 10th & 17th can be recorded as 'net pars'.

Clubhouse Casual Staff Vacancy

We have a casual position in our shop and bar available. Hours and days of work are varied and weather dependent. Familiarity with food handling a requirement and experience in retail and bar work an advantage. Knowledge of golf a decided advantage. Apply to clubhouse@karorigolf.co.nz.

Please Book & Check In Before Play

It's standard golfing etiquette to book a tee time and either print a card or check-in with Clubhouse staff before commencing play. This achieves several things:

Let's us know who's playing the course at any given time in case of an emergency
More accurately records the number of rounds being played
Helps KGC staff and committee monitor freeloaders and saves the embarrassment (on both sides) when members who haven't booked/checked in get challenged.

Stephen is available for sessions again from 7 Jan 2025. Take your game to the next level with our very own teaching pro. Stephen is highly regarded and offers great value for members (includes video analysis):

KGC Members:
30mins = $40; 60mins = $75
Non-KGC Members:
30mins = $60; 60mins = $100
KGC Juniors:
30mins = $20 (plus help with ball pick-up)

Mark v Robyn

Robyn Chambers came back to play! Our President, Mark Peck, took the opportunity to host an ex-KGC Manager for a round today and reminisce about times past . At the time of writing, Robyn was 4 up on the 8th!!! It'll be quite a comeback to win from there Mark! Ian Colligan was our reliable scorekeeper!
