This week we've had two extremely successful events which brought alot of energy into the clubhouse. We had the Club Champs Finals last Sunday and yesterday we hosted (for the first time in around 20 years) a WGI Futures Junior Open. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback about the condition of the course, our hospitality, and the conduct of both events. A HUGE thanks to all who contributed!

We've had seven new members join this week. A big welcome (and in one case welcome back) to:

  • Heather Kerr (9H)
  • Will Poemoore (Junior 19-25)
  • Kiaan Vallabh (Junior U18)
  • Jack Basire (Junior U18)
  • Ryan Frost (Junior U18)
  • Tane Mauchlen (Junior U18)
  • Jack Boyle (Junior U18)

It will be one gross round with winners eligible to compete in the Champion of Champions organised by Wellington Golf.

  • She Loves Golf Event - Tue 29 Oct 5pm: We've already had over a dozen budding female golfers sign up - please keep spreading the word. You should see signs around the city promoting this in the near future. It's an introductory session for women interested in learning to play golf. Cost is $5, all equipment is provided as well as a free drink and nibbles afterwards. Register interest by emailing denise@karorigolf.co.nz

Wednesday Club

  • 15 golfers enjoyed pleasant conditions. Terry McAlister prevailed in the Stableford competition with 35 points from Patrick Cordue on 34 points. Balls were also given to Michael Cox (33) and Matthew Everett (33). Matthew was nearest the pin but had to pay the pig for his missed putt. There were no twos on the day. Terry won the raffle and Derek Fitzgibbon was second. (Cheers Patrick)

Wednesday Twilight

  • The second round of Twilight for the season saw 21 golfers compete for the prizes!  Martin Binks came in third with 18 stableford points, winning a $10 voucher, Andrew Gardener and Gail Kirkland came second with 19 points and $15 vouchers, and Terry Bastian took first place with 22 stablefords and won a $20 voucher! Martin and Andrew also collected golf balls for NTP and the only 'two' of the night (respectively).

  • Another fun night with lovely food, thanks Brigitte and Karen for amazing salads and thanks to Peter Alkema for braving the wind and BBQing for us, and to Isaac in the kitchen. Lastly thankyou to our sponsor Richard Reith from Collective First national. Come along next week!! (Cheers Gail)
