Ladies

  • Tuesday Ladies: Unfortunately, no golf this week due to rain. Every Tuesday morning the course is reserved for Ladies Members to play a weekly competition. 18-Holers tee off from 9:30am and 9-Holers from 10:00am. If you're learning or just starting out and do not feel comfortable playing with others, you're more than welcome to tee off from 10:15am onwards. Visitors are most welcome to join in and everyone is invited to enjoy a lunch in the Clubhouse afterwards. Please email denise@karorigolf.co.nz  if interested.

  • She Loves Golf Event: The Women’s Club Captain, Denise Marten and Chris Suggate are planning an event in late October. Details will be announced soon. Please email denise@karorigolf.co.nz  if interested.

Wednesday Club

  • After a cold wet and windy couple of days, sunny skies greeted 14 regular Wednesday Club players. Soft going underfoot however prevented play by those requiring carts, and limited the scoring opportunities with nobody achieving a positive par round but the fresh air was good.

  • The winner was Alex Lim (wine) on -1 from runner-up on count-back Marcus Henry taking the chocolates. Terry McAlister and Jim Waters took balls for each being on -2. Fergus McLean took chocolates for extra steps and Nearest-the-Pin. Marcus also took more chocolates for a 2 on 12! (eagle) and was runner up in the fine wine (Peregrine) raffle which was won by Victor Diem. Finally the Comp raffle was won by Chris Pearce after a draw by Terry and then promptly drew himself as the runner-up!! (Cheers Ian)

Sunday Gaskies

  • Due to a clash with Club Champs tee times, the timeslot for Gaskies this week is between 9:20 - 9:34am.

Juniors/Futures

  • KGC Junior/Futures Tournament: This Sunday. Tee-off 11.30am. You must be a KGC member and have a current NZ Golf Handicap to enter. $5.00 entry fee to cover prizes, Trophy on offer as well as prizes and complimentary drink & fries.

  • Junior Golf Coaching Programme: Spaces for this are filling fast!!! A graduated Junior Golf Coaching Programme is starting up in Terms 4 and 1, led by Stephen Wood and supported by Maurice Munro. Numbers are limited to 45, so if you know of any juniors keen to give golf a go, don't delay! Details on our Facebook page.

Placing Change

With immediate effect, the Club Captain has changed the placing through the green rule from one club length to 150mm (6 inches), no closer to the hole. This is printed on your scorecard.

Call for Help - 'Adopt-a-Hole' Initiative

We're now well into Spring, the grass is growing before our eyes and my greens staff aren't getting to some of the important but 'lighter' duties required to get the course in tip top shape for the City of Wellington Classic on 02 Nov 24. Other courses have very successful 'Adopt-a-Hole' initiatives and I'm keen to see if it might work for us.  Between now and the Classic, it would involve:

  • Organising a small group (2 - 4 members)
  • Adopting a Hole (1 - 18)
  • Repairing divots/pitch marks from tee block to green (this could be done each time your group play your adopted hole)
  • Collecting sticks under trees & placing in a pile
  • Other hole specific tasks as required

Any volunteer support would be a huge help to get our course looking great. If you're willing and able please email me: TK@karorigolf.co.nz.

Cart Use

For the forseeable future, when cart use is allowed, they must stick to the fairways. If your ball is in the rough, please park on the fairway and walk to your ball. This will stop the wetter areas on the course from being damaged.

Extended Summer Opening Hours (Tuesday & Wednesday)

We are delighted to announce the Clubhouse will have extended Summer opening hours on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights. We have listened to our members who regularly play 9-holes after work and enjoy a refreshment and bite to eat afterwards. Please support this initiative by returning to the Clubhouse after your round. Tuesday will commence after the school holidays on 15 Oct (and be trialed through until Christmas), and Wednesday will commence with Twilight on 02 Oct.
