1. Golf This week
a) Women
Our women are playing Round 2 of Putting for our 9 hole golfers (back 9) and our 18 hole golfers are playing Round 3 of their Medley. Good luck all. The weather looks like it will behave well.
Our 18 hole golfers will find drainage work still in progress on the front 9 and hopefully all holes will be open. Any course changes will be notified in the morning.
b) Wednesday Competition
The disc draw for Wednesday Competition is done at 10.15 for the 10.30 tee off. Please be at the clubhouse in plenty of time for this to be completed.
$5 covers your entry and buys a raffle ticket.
Fields have been good lately.
c) Thursday Twilight
This lovely way to spend a Thursday evening is coming to a close. Come and enjoy the golf from the short tees, the gourmet barbecue at the conclusion and the camarederie at the end of the evening.
d) Sunday
The Holland Cup Qualifying round will be played this Sunday for all golfers playing off the white tees.
The top 16 qualifiers will progress to the match play rounds to be played consecutively by the end of each week prior to the final on 14 April.
Sunday Club Day is supported by Shirties, Matts Mob and Gaskies. Everyone is welcome to join in and play (including affiliated visitors). Meet up with any of these groups and I am sure you will be invited to join them.
Gaskies is particularly welcoming of anyone new to golf, or the club who wants to get to meet up with and get involved with the club. We meet at the picnic table at 8.45am for a card draw before teeing off at 9.06am, a respectable time of the morning. Everyone is welcome. Just rock up, print your card and we will help out with all the rest.
e) Shootout
This qualifying event runs until the end of November. All you need is ten counting scores to be in the running to qualify for the shootout palyoff.
$25 entry fee covers the prize pool at the end of the year.
Good fun and good prizes for those who play good golf.
Come on and get in!
2. Sunday Results
a) Sunday Club: Top of the pops was Eun Lee on 42 points along with Paul Hawkes also on 42.
Next was Garth Mickell on 41, Ciaran O'Kelly 40 and John Timperley 40.
If you didn't score 40 points or more, you didn't get a mention. Tough School at the top this week.
b) Grant Keats: This two round nett event was won by Garth Mickell on 130, from Saint Kennach on 137 and Keith Atkinson on 147.
So that concludes the news this week.
I really cannot pay too many more compliments to TK Ross and his team for their work on the course since he arrived and particularly over the last few weeks.
I also want to acknowledge and thank the volunteers who have turned up in numbers when required to ensure the "leg work" is done in a timely manner. It is fair to say many of this group have time on their hands but I am sure that they could be doing other things. Thank you so very much.
The golden weather hangs around a bit longer. Let's enjoy it while we can.
I'll report back next week.
Mark Peck
Club Captain.
