Kia Ora everyone.
Even with a mid week storm which turned the course white for a brief period there was still lots of golf played over the last 7 days. ??

9 hole midweek ladies news
Hilary Newby won the Pam Bryant trophy for Wellington Lady Veterans’ 9 Hole golf. She scored the most points over all the vets games in the year. A great result for a clear winner.
This win means that all three top district trophies were won by players from our club. Well done Karori Women’s 9 hole members. A fantastic result for the year.
Christmas cheer
In the last celebration of our golfing year, 15 nine hole members and one 18 hole member had a most enjoyable lunch at Beach Babylon this Thursday.
Happy golfing over the summer.”
Cheers

Wednesday Competition
Hi All,
21 members were pleasantly surprised by the course conditions after the hailstones and tornados of yesterday. Only a couple of tree branches and some leaves plus a chilly breeze remained in evidence of that summer storm!!
The winner was Derek Firtzgibbon with a par round of +5 -- he took the wine. Victor Diem was runner-up on +4 ( he took the balls) just edging out his mate Vinh Pham also on +4. Ossie was 3rd with +3. Balls were given out down to +2. Alex Lim and Vinh each scored a Two with Vinh also the NTP. The Bunny
was Hector and the Jeff Mason and Gunter Karau won the raffle.
Wed Club final event for the year will be on the 20th Dec.
Cheers Ian
Thursday
Twilight Golf
The penultimate Twilight of 2023 welcomed 23 competitors. The course was in great condition and summer run has begun, resulting in some high scores.
With 20 stableford points, Karen Simcox claimed third place. Stu Boston and Graeme Couper were joint runners up with 21 points and Paul Westermayer, Ossie Santos and newcomer Paul Bishop scored a whopping 22 points!
Karen Simcox took the NTP prize and Bob Zou had the only two on hole #4 - best '2' ever recorded at Twilight as it combined a mulligan off the tee, and the choice of alternate hole to clinch the '2' - great work Bob!
Once again, big thanks to Doug Calhoun on the BBQ, Isaac and Nas in the kitchen and to our sponsor (who we hope will join us next Thursday), Richard Reith from Collective First National.
Come along to the last Twilight of the year next Thursday :)

Other NEWS
Longest Day
It is expected to rain all day Saturday and consequently we have postponed the Longest Day fundraiser until Saturday January 13, although disappointing it does give us more time to raise funds for the cancer society.
For those that would like to support this cause;
Details are;
Four rounds, 72 holes, playing each of our courses. Blue, White, Yellow, Red.
REGISTER HERE https://www.karorigolf.co.nz/event-calendar#
We encourage players to get sponsors and raise as much money for the cancer society as possible.
We will put on a bbq lunch after the first two rounds and a BBQ dinner after the 4th round.
We are encouraging entries and looking to see if we can get more than the 10 intrepid Golfers who played last year.
Be warned - Anyone playing their regular Saturday round will be encouraged, arm twisted to donate on the day by our team of fundraisers!
Our Vice President Adrian Porter, and a regular longest day competitor and current champion Scott McHardy have fundraising pages set up.
