9 hole Midweek Ladies
Once again the weather played up for our closing day fun tournament this Tuesday, shared with the 18 hole midweek members. However eight hardy members still took to the course with four of them finishing as winners. Congratulations to Sue McLaren and Elizabeth Wagner for finishing with the most stablefords. Runners up were Lauren Robey and Sandy Lepper.
We enjoyed a really good turnout for lunch (amazing cakes supplied by Helga), followed by prizegiving to conclude the formal part of the season. Congratulations to all our trophy winners and runners up. It seems quite early to be finishing this year with one more club competition to follow, the 9 hole shootout with 9 members participating next Tuesday. For the members who participate in Vets, the Christmas Closing Day is at Trentham next Thursday.
Thank you to all our members who’ve turned up to play in sometimes challenging weather conditions. We’re hoping for a settled year weatherwise next year.
Happy golfing over the summer break.

Wednesday Competition
Hi All,
Yesterday, twenty-two golfers competed in a Par competition in beautiful weather. The winner was Mike Suggate (+4) beating Gunter (+2). Balls were given down to +1. There were no twos. Marcus was nearest the pin and had to pay the pig. The cash raffle was won by Chris with Marcus second.
Next week, 6 December is the end of year celebration. We will award the six trophies for the 2023 Race to October competition and give out the other prizes (as well as having the usual Wednesday competition). Free snacks as well. If that Wednesday is a washout then the prize giving will be moved to 13 December.
Regards
Patrick

Twilight Golf
We had great weather and 16 keen golfers at Twilight this week. Welcome to new players Neil Hoskin, Liam Wilby and Henry Morrow.
Graeme Couper, Terry McAlister and Gail Kirkland came in third with 18 stablefords; Neil Hoskin kicked off his Twilight career in second place on 19 points and, after her sojourn in Europe, Ossie waltzed home in first place with 20 points. Well done Ossie!!!
Terry McAlister had a 'two' and Geoff Lee won NTP.
Thanks to Peter Alkema for helping with the BBQ tonight, to Ossie for helping in the kitchen and to Isaac for running the bar. Another lovely Twilight was had :)

A heads up that the longest day tournament will take place on Saturday December 16th.
Four rounds, 72 holes, playing each of our courses. Blue, White, Yellow, Red.
REGISTER HERE https://www.karorigolf.co.nz/event-calendar#
We encourage players to get sponsors and raise as much money for the cancer society as possible.
We will put on a bbq lunch after the first two rounds and a BBQ dinner after the 4th round.
We are encouraging entries and looking to see if we can get more than the 10 intrepid Golfers who played last year.
Be warned - Anyone playing their regular Saturday round will be encouraged, arm twisted to donate on the day by our team of fundraisers!
Our Vice President Adrian Porter, and a regular longest day competitor and current champion Scott McHardy have fundraising pages set up.

The Course
Thank you to TK and his team plus the volunteers who have helped out so far. The course is looking great and we’re getting lots of positive feedback about the course. Still looking to replace some machinery to help manage the workload but things are looking up. ??
AGM – Save the date
Just over a week till our AGM on the morning of Saturday 9th December. Save this date in your calendars and come out for a round of golf as well.
Committee members required
We have had a few put their hands up but we are still looking for new committee members
We have roles for all, but needs in three areas:
- Treasurer. This position requires a person with accounting skills and a working knowledge of Xero would be useful but not essential, along with a strong strategic view on the club and its funding going forward. Marcus Henry, the current treasurer will ensure a longish handover to ensure there is no lack of continuity.
- Women. The club is very clearly in need of more women, and to help accelerate their recruitments and development we need more women on the committee - joining Denise Martin as Fiona Kearns has stepped down after many years of service.
- We would also like some younger people, or even a junior representative.
Interested in the challenge/opportunity? Nomination forms are available at the clubrooms, or give Mike Suggate a ring on 021 774471, or email him at president@karorigolf.co.nz.
Cart Room
If you play late and put your cart back in the cart room late please be sure to lock the door when you leave. It has been left open a couple of times recently.
Tee Bookings
Remember to please book your rounds into DotGolf so we can track course usage. Thank you. ??
That’s another round from me.
Have a great week.
